The production challenger is almost identical to the concept that debuted almost two years ago. Its based on the LX platform that the Dodge Charger, the Chrysler 300 and the soon to be departed Dodge Magnum all share. The Challenger will go on sale early next year (either February or March) which puts in the middle of the 08 model year. For 2008 only 5500 Challengers will be made, all will be SRT 8 models with the 6.1L Hemi (425 HP/ 420 lb.-ft. torque) mated to a 5 speed auto stick transmission. The 2008 Challenger will be available in three colors: Hemi Orange, Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl Coat and Bright Silver Metallic, with the Hemi Orange and Bright Silver having carbon fiber hood stripes. The price for each of these 5500 Challengers will be $37,995 and you can bet there wont be any cash back on this car.
